Channel Surfing – February 9, 2010

All the tube news that’s fit to surf …

– So, last night’s Bachelor … whoa! Didn’t see that one coming, but who else thinks that may not be the last we see of Ali?

Ellen DeGeneres makes her big debut as the newest American Idol judge tonight (8PM ET, Fox) … will she be able to stick to her plan to be “brutally honest” without sounding mean?

Howard Stern has confirmed Fox is interested in making him Simon‘s replacement on American Idol, and he says it’ll only cost the network $100 million. Is he – or anyone – worth it?

– As the ratings for 24‘s eighth season are down and a decision on a ninth season is still up in the air, EW.com says a 24 big-screen movie is closer to becoming a realityBattlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff is really a big wet blanket on the new season so far, but I still hope there are many future Jack Bauer adventures minus the wooden, hair-flipping Dana Walsh.

Lost‘s Daniel Dae Kim has been (perfectly) cast in CBS’ upcoming Hawaii Five-O remake, though I still think there’s a better choice than Moonlight/Three Rivers star Alex O’Loughlin for the role of Det. Steve McGarrett.

– The Fonz is a daddy! Henry Winkler will play the father of Hank and Evan on the second season of USA’s Royal Pains.

The Wrap.com reports that Fox and Conan O’Brien are serious about potentially getting Coco back on the air by January.

– More late-night news: Craig Ferguson is Twittering. Follow him tout de suite.

– When I heard The Shield star Michael Chiklis was heading back to TV in a family-themed show, it brought back memories of the dreadful Daddio. Thankfully, dreck like that sitcom is a thing of the past for the Emmy winner, who has signed on to star in the ABC drama pilot No Ordinary Family, about a family of superheroes.

– Legendary game show host Wink Martindale is headed to Game Show Network with a new show, Instant Recall.

– Want to be a fashionable couch potato? Perhaps PajamaJeans are just the thing you’re looking for …

Are Andy and Erin going to be the new Jim and Pam? They’re cute, but not quite Jim-and-Pam level. Speaking of, the Halperts will welcome Baby Halpert in a special hour-long ep of The Office on March 4.

– Thursday night’s American Chopper episode (9PM, TLC): It’s the series finale.

– There’ll be a new judge in town when season 14 of America’s Next Top Model premieres on March 10: Vogue legend Andre Leon Talley.

– I (ashamedly) love Jersey Shore as much as the next girl, but really, who would pay $50,000 to have fist-pumpin’ DJ Pauly D walk them down the aisle at her wedding? Well, this girl, and even wackier: He rejected the offer, because he’s “a serious DJ.”

– More Joisey Shore news: Snooki got a makeover. For reals.

– And, a Super Bowl wrap up: It’s the most watched TV show ever, here are the commercials viewers loved best and here are the commercials that were banned from this year’s telecast.

Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and Louis C.K. are getting most of the attention, but I’m most excited that one of the best new shows of last TV season — Wilfred — returns for its second season on FX tonight (10PM ET). Season one of the series ended with a cliffhanger — had Ryan (Elijah Wood) […]
