‘Boardwalk Empire’ Trailer: The Best HBO Drama Since ‘The Wire’ & ‘The Sopranos’

Here it is, the just-released trailer for HBO’s upcoming drama Boardwalk Empire, about the illegal goings-on in Atlantic City during the Prohibition Era. The series, based on author Nelson Johnson‘s must-read book Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City, truly does look like the best HBO series since The Sopranos and The Wire, and with this pedigree – the series was created by Sopranos writer and producer Terence Winter, the pilot was directed by Martin Scorsese and the drama stars Steve Buscemi, The Wire‘s Michael K. Williams, Dabney Coleman, Michael Pitt and Gretchen Mol – it’s as close to a sure-thing as there is among all the new shows that are premiering in the next few months.

Boardwalk Empire premieres on Sunday, September 19.
