Potts Picks: Today’s Best TV

Potts Picks: Today’s Best TV

(ALL TIMES ET)

9PM | NBC – SERIES PREMIERE
The Voice Carson Daly hosts and Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are the mentors/coaches/judges in this new reality singing competition in which wannabe pros try to win a recording contract. The twist, in tonight’s part one of the auditions: The judges can’t see the singers perform – they can only listen to them – until they’ve decided whether or not they’re talented enough to continue on in the competition. I know, I know, we didn’t really need an American Idol knock-off, especially with Simon Cowell‘s X Factor coming in the fall and another season of America’s Got Talent on tap for summer, but I have to admit, with AI turning out to be a disappointment this season, and that intriguing twist of the blind auditions, The Voice is definitely worth checking out.

8PM | FOX
Glee
– The special 90-minute episode features the music of Lady Gaga, as well as Madonna‘s “Born This Way.” I kid, I kid.

9PM | ABC
Dancing With the Stars
Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, or NKOTBSB as they’ll be known on their joint tour this summer, perform on the week six results show.

9:30PM | FOX
Raising Hope
– Burt and Virginia teach Hope an old family trick: They “sleep train” her.

10PM | MTV
16 & Pregnant
– Teen Jennifer is not only expecting twins, but her parents refuse to speak to her babydaddy, setting up some very difficult decisions for her.

10PM | FOOD NETWORK
Chopped
– Tofu and missions figs are among the mystery basket ingredients.

10PM | PLANET GREEN
The Fabulous Beekman Boys
– Brent lets Josh take over the Beekman cookbook and, well, regrets that decision very soon thereafter.

10PM | SYFY – 1ST SEASON FINALE
Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen
– A Chrysler party for auto design students has Marcel and company heading to Detroit, where he plans to whip up an anti-gravity pizza.

10:30PM | COMEDY CENTRAL
Sports Show With Norm McDonald
– The Saturday Night Live alum continues his pithy commentary on all things sports.

11PM | MTV
My Life as Liz
– Liz agrees to perform with Louis in an ’80s-themed show, while Sully tries to woo Marlene. How cute are Sully and Marlene?

Worth flipping to during commercials:
