Here’s my pitch for why Isaak should get the job:

1 - Unlike Randy Jackson or Kara DioGuardi, who like to name check all the people they’ve worked with in the music industry, and remind us constantly of their singing/songwriting/performing experience, Isaak has experience — current experience — in all those areas.

2 - In fact, the hubby and I have tickets for an Isaak show in New York City tonight. It will be the fifth time we’ve seen him, because he’s in that very rare category of performer who knows how to put together a great show. Fantastic songs, great voice, talented band, charming stage patter and cool costume changes (including his famous mirrored suit) are part of what makes an Isaak show a sure bet, and the thing that has been sorely lacking in many AI contestants is performance skills.

“I think I have a talented band,” Isaak told an interviewer earlier this year. “I think I’m a good singer and songwriter. But there’s all kinds of people with talent. For a live show, it’s more than just talent. You have to want to entertain people.”

At last, it would be nice to have someone on the judges’ panel who could sincerely help school the contestants in this area.

3 - Think Issak is an out-of-left-field pick, with a lack of TV experience? Not at all. His 2001-04 Showtime comedy The Chris Isaak Show was a perfect example of what makes him so great. He played a slightly exaggerated version of himself, with his band co-starring, and proved what a great sense of humor he has as “TV Chris” was a little arrogant, a lot cheap and a big ladies man.

And more recently, he’s hosted Bio Channel’s The Chris Isaak Hour, where he interviewed and performed with fellow music stars like Michael Buble, Trisha Yearwood, the Smashing Pumpkins, Stevie Nicks and Glen Campbell. He’s a relaxed, funny interviewer, and those skills would transfer to Idol.

He’s also guest starred on Friends, Ed, American Dreams, in the From the Earth to the Moon miniseries on HBO and has been a correspondent on Extra and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (and, for those of us who are devoted Team Coco members, Isaac performed with Conan O’Brien’s The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour stop in San Francisco in April).

Bottom line: He has a lot of TV experience, a great sense of humor, eclectic music background, charming presence and can bring some genuine insights into critiquing American Idol contestants. Hire this guy, Fox!

By the way, THR also reports that Bret Michaels is definitely out as a potential Simon replacement, Donald Trump doesn’t appear to be under any serious consideration (despite the fact that he lobbied for the gig pretty hard) and Harry Connick Jr. is, with Issak, a top contender.

- Broadway and 30 Rock star Cheyenne Jackson will be making a guest appearance on the next season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is filming in New York City this summer.

- Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood is heading to the tube, for the first time, in an odd new FX comedy.

- Potential Larry King replacements: Ryan Seacrest, Piers Morgan and … Joy Behar? No, CNN. Just no.

- The new season of Weeds, which kicks off in August, will find Nancy Botwin and her family on the lam, in a Winnebago.

- Is The Big O ending her daily talk show just in time? Because her ratings are down. Way down.

- Craig Kilborn also didn’t grab such hot ratings in his return to TV on Monday.

- Eminem and Christina Aguilera will guest star on the season finale of Entourage, which is also suffering from a ratings downturn: The season premiere last Sunday was down 26 percent vs. the previous season’s premiere.

- Coming soon to a network near you: Susan Sarandon’s ping pong reality show. For reals.

- All those people who were on the receiving end of Gordon Ramsay’s sometimes harsh criticisms on Kitchen Nightmares might not be feeling a lot of sympathy for the chef, who had to close down one of his own eateries in London.

- This is a buzzkill: Starz has canceled Party Down, one of the funniest shows on cable.

- And check out big-screen (and Freaks and Geeks) star James Franco’s goofy return to his General Hospital guest stint today, including the monkey toy that I’m assuming is a little shout out to the James Dean toy monkey scene in Rebel Without a Cause, since Franco played Dean in a TNT biopic. If not, it’s a really cool coincidence, no?

- Yes, they’ve broken up and a he said/she said drama continues to unfold, but Bachelor Jake Pavelka and his ex-fiancé Vienna Girardi will reunite on the July 5 episode of The Bachelorette to dish their relationship for the audience that watched them hook up in the first place.

- As if there aren’t already enough cop shows on the air (check out my feature on this summer’s new crop of ‘em), Lifetime alone is adding three new police dramas to the mix.

- By the way, the most successful of the new summer cop shows so far: Jason Lee’s post-My Name Is Earl return to the tube in TNT’s Memphis Beat, in which he plays an Elvis-lovin’ Memphis cop.

- This sounds like the infamous Joan Collins/Linda Evans pond fight on Dynasty: ’80s pop stars Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will duke it out – in a swamp – in an upcoming Saturday night cheesefest flick on Syfy.

- Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon has signed on for a recurring role in Showtime’s new August drama The Big C, where she’ll play the friend of star Laura Linney’s Cathy, an unhappy wife/mother/teacher who finds out she has cancer and decides to make some big changes in her life.

- Disgraced New York governor Eliot Spitzer is going to co-host a new CNN talk show. Will you watch, or is he just too big a creep? Or will you watch because he’s a big creep (that has to account for at least a portion of Bill O’Reilly’s audience)?

- The next big trend in primetime might be mob dramas: Starz is developing one, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is developing one and the New York Daily News reports that the son of a real-life mobster is pitching a reality show in which he would star.

- And, Betty White is not the only Hot in Cleveland cast member in the midst of a comeback. Valerie Bertinelli is not only one of the gang on Cleveland, but she also taped the pilot for a talk show that may replace As the World Turns when the daytime soap airs its series finale in September.

- One of the things I like least about American Idol is the younger contestants, who, while they may be vocally talented, almost always lack stage presence and real performance skills. So the fact that AI producers’ first change for the first AI season that will be sans Simon Cowell is to lower the minimum age requirement to 15 … eh. They should really be putting all their efforts into finding a fantastic Simon replacement, especially since lowering the age requirement isn’t going to help distinguish them from America’s Got Talent or Simon’s new show, X Factor, and for AI to continue to be successful, producers need to give us a reason to watch it, as opposed to all the other talent-search series, no?

- Another one bites the dust, and I have to admit, it happened faster than I thought it would: Most recent Bachelor Jake and his fiancée Vienna have already broken up, and the split is getting uglier by the hour.

- Mary Steenburgen is starring in the upcoming FX drama Outlaw Country, which kinda sounds like The Sopranos, set in the world of country music.

- Starz is developing a new drama that people are also comparing to The Sopranos. Hey, if you’re gonna be a copycat, copy a great show.

- That Mad Men season four poster off to the side is pretty cool, right? Click here and take a look at a few photos from the new season (which kicks off on July 25), including one of a slightly aged Peggy (Elisabeth Moss), lending some evidence that those rumors about season four jumping ahead in time might be on the money.

- I love Burn Notice, but this collage that spoofs some of the show’s, um, recurring themes, is pretty clever.

- No stinkin’ power outage is going to keep Jimmy Kimmel or his talk show down. He shot tonight’s episode with his MacBook.

- ABC’s new medical reality drama Boston Med is going to feature a face transplant.

- NASCAR … in 3D … awesome.

- Here’s a refreshing story from a former child star: Family Matters‘ Urkel, Jaleel White, says playing his uber-geeky teen was a great experience.

- Syfy is giving viewers a chance to contribute to one of its original Saturday night cheesefest movies.

- You think you love True Blood? Not as much as Snoop Dogg.

- Wondering what happened to that Bret Michaels autobio that was supposed to come out last summer? With all the drama in his life since then, the book has been pushed to February 2011, so he has time to add chapters on recent events.

- Oz star and 30 Rock recurring guest star Dean Winters has just revealed his own health drama-plagued year.

- And, speaking of 30 Rock, Tina Fey is among the celebs who will get stars on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood this year, along with the fabulous Neil Patrick Harris, Danny DeVito (can you believe he doesn’t already have one?!), Oprah (ditto) and Married … with Children/Modern Family star (and Ohio University alum – go Bobcats!) Ed O’Neill.

- Must See TV tonight: The endearing, awesomely talented John Goodman, he of the recent incredible weight loss, on The Late Show with David Letterman. Guessing that his new healthier bod will be a major topic of conversation, so it’ll be cool to hear how he did it. Seriously, dude looks fantastic, and like 20 years younger.

- Must At Least TiVo TV tonight: The premiere of Hot in Cleveland on TV Land. It’s a very, very broad comedy (and I’m not talking about the all-female cast), of which I am not usually a fan, but how do you not watch a show that brings Betty White back to the tube on a weekly basis?

- That chick that wowed you with her rendition of “At Last” on last night’s America’s Got Talent? She’s the mom of Precious Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe.

- My friend Scott and I were just discussing how we’re experiencing Bachelor/Bachelorette overkill, and here comes yet another entry in the franchise line-up: Bachelor Pad, the Big Brother-meets-The Bachelor spin-off, will debut on ABC on August 9 and include hosts Chris Harrison and Melissa Rycroft, as well as Bachelor alumni Tenley Molzahan, Wed Hayden, Craig McKinnon, Gia Allemand, Jonathan Novack, Michelle Kujawa (last season’s “emotional” Jake Pavelka bachelorette) and Kiptyn Locke among the contestants.

- Speaking of overkill, I have to ‘fess up to watching every incarnation of the Real Housewives series, but the upcoming D.C. batch are kinda boring me before the show even premieres. There’s already so much drama, real drama that actually affects most of us in some way, in D.C., that it’s hard to even pretend to take these particular reality star wannabes too seriously, ya know?

- Speaking of boring, TMZ.com reports that Sammi and Ronnie, last season’s Jersey Shore lovebirds, have proven to be so boring in season two that MTV is considering replacing them for season three. Meanwhile, can you imagine we’ll still care enough/be amused by enough these people to tune in for a third season?

- You have to give him this: he’s committed. A professional cartographer, and presumably huge Lost fan, has created a very cool map of the Lost island.

- Here’s a Sons of Anarchy fan’s visit to the SOA set, complete with Q+A with series creator (and portrayer of Big Otto … and real-life husband of series star Katey Sagal) Kurt Sutter.

- Syfy is developing a fun new show about Hollywood memorabilia.

- And if you’re in Los Angeles this week, try to hook up with USA Network’s Emmy promo ice cream truck, where the network is handing out ice cream sandwiches for each of their shows, including “The Monk” (vanilla bean), “The Psych” (brown butter candied bacon), “The In Plain Sight” (chocolate chipotle) and “The Royal Pains” (balsamic fig and mascarpone).

- I’m bummed that The A-Team movie finished a distant second to The Karate Kid remake at the movie box office last weekend. The A-Team is such a fun flick, easily one of the best TV-to-movie makeovers in a long time, and with an opening sequence that is more action-packed and entertaining than the entire runtime of most movies. If you were a fan of the TV show, check it out. Even if you weren’t, it holds up as a good summer popcorn movie. Everyone in it is fantastic (even Jessica Biel!), though District 9 star Sharlto Copley steals the whole movie as H.M. Murdock.

- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans who actually live in Philly, prepare to stalk The Gang. Kidding, but the cast will be in town to shoot scenes for the upcoming sixth season next week, and will hang out to help co-stars (and soon-to-be new parents) Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson open a new bar they’re investing in.

- Awesome: Ricky Gervais will guest star on the upcoming eighth season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

- Does the winner of America’s Got Talent really get $1 million prize? Yes, but it’s doled out over the course of 40 (!) years, and that’s not the only fine print in reality TV prize contracts, as The Daily Beast details in an interesting new feature.

- This seems like a casting coup: Ed Asner has signed on to play Tom Arnold’s grumpy dad in the CMT comedy pilot Regular Joe.

- More TV daddy news: Brian Cox will play Laura Linney’s father in the upcoming Showtime dramedy The Big C, which also co-stars Precious Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe and The Wire star Idris Elba.

- And one more bit of fun casting news: 7th Heaven papa Stephen Collins will be back in primetime next season, as a series regular on the Michael Chiklis superhero family drama No Ordinary Family. The former Rev. Eric Camden will play the boss of Chiklis’ character’s wife, played by Dexter’s Julie Benz.

- Oh, and speaking of Dexter …The death of Benz’ Rita will necessitate the hiring of a nanny by Dexter, and that nanny will be played by The Tudors alum Maria Doyle Kennedy. Also joining the Dexter gang for season five: Southland star Shawn Hatosy.

- Wanna bid on a weekend with the stars of History Channel’s addictive Pawn Stars, uh, stars? Check out the eBay charity auction, which opens tonight at 10PM ET, for a shot at a weekend in Vegas, which includes accommodations at the Palms, dinner with the Harrison clan and Chumlee at the Palms, playing in a poker tournament with the show’s stars and an internship at the Gold and Silver Pan Shop.

- MTV is giving up on VJs … now the network is looking for a “TJ,” a Twitter jockey, to bridge the network’s TV presence with its social media presence.

- And, when the Real Housewives women started singing, you knew this wouldn’t be far behind: The Situation has recorded a rap song.

- Royal Pains and Burn Notice return tonight on USA Network.

- Curb Your Enthusiasm has begun airing on the TV Guide Network (10PM ET), and even if you’ve already seen them all, or own the DVDs, these encore airings are worth checking out again, because each episode will be followed by a mini-discussion by celebs, comedians and “ethicists,” who will dissect Larry’s bad behavior from the episode, with Curb co-star Susie Essman moderating.

- If you want to pretend that that whole “sideways” aspect of Lost never happened, check out this fan’s videos, with the alt-world stuff edited out.

- Is Homer Simpson really the greatest TV and film character of the last 20 years? I’d actually rank Cosmo Kramer higher, and maybe Tony Soprano, too. And Jack Bauer at 44?! No way … should be in the top 20 (or top 10), at least.

- HBO’s upcoming comedy based on Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke keeps adding to its already fantastic cast, with Sanaa Lathan and Jason Patric the latest addition to a lineup that includes Diane Keaton, Ellen Page, Wes Bentley and Leland Orser.

- Can’t wait to the see the big-screen Smurfs movie … here’s a sneak peek of Hank Azaria in action as the evil Gargamel.

- Coco sidekick Andy Richter is going to be the host of a Pyramid revamp.

- Green Day and Glee cast members will be among the performers of the Sean Hayes-hosted Tony Awards telecast on June 13.

- The next season of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is on hold, because producers can’t get enough celebs to sign on for the show. Not that there is a lack of celebs who need rehab, of course, but at least some of them are apparently still able to see that airing their dirty laundry on reality TV isn’t the healthiest way to get better.

- Upcoming third season of True Blood: expect lots of werewolves.

- This year’s Spike Awards (which air June 20 on the network) has a better lineup of talent than the Oscars. Among those who’ll pop in for the dude-centric awards show: George Clooney, the cast of The Hangover, Kiefer Sutherland, Robert De Niro, James Gandolfini, LeBron James, Ben Affleck, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Rock, Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Sylvester Stallone, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Liotta, Ozzy Osbourne, Liam Neeson, Adrien Brody and Shaun White.

- With all the self-help-y reality shows on the air, it’s hard to believe it’s taken this long for Tony Robbins to star in one, but it’s finally happening on July 27, as the life coach hosts Breakthrough with Tony Robbins on NBC.

- Is House on the way out?

- And Bret Michaels as an American Idol judge? Great idea! And yes, he does have experience: He was already a judge on Nashville Star.

- Simon Cowell thinks Lee DeWyze will emerge as the American Idol season nine winner. I don’t think he should (especially after last night’s final performances, which Crystal Bowersox handily dominated), but I agree that he probably will. Meanwhile, for me, the biggest event on tonight’s Idol season finale isn’t the revelation of the winner, but the fact that it’s Simon’s final night on the show. Shark jumped.

- PS: Check out this cool new (and free) American Idol PC game, which lets you record your own vocals on hit songs and then make a video of it, starring an avatar version of you. Warning: It’s fun and addictive.

- I’m not ashamed to ‘fess up: The 24 series finale made me weepy. Just can’t believe Jack Bauer is not going to be on my TV on Monday nights anymore. Sigh. And, I know, there’s iTunes and Amazon.com downloads, but Fox isn’t releasing the final season on DVD until December 7. Odd to wait that long …

- If you missed the Jesse James interview on Nightline last night, US Weekly has a recap, including details about what he says was a very abusive childhood at the hands of his father.

- Lost fans are still looking everywhere for answers the many questions the series finale left hanging, but those images of the Oceanic 815 wreckage that popped up at the end of the finale? Nothing significant about them, ABC confirms. They’re just photos.

- Follow up: That video clip you’ll see in the link above, a video filled with almost 100 unanswered Lost questions, prompted Movieline to try to answer some lingering Lost mysteries.

- This is one of the wackier concerns for next fall’s new TV season: CBS has decided to call the new Twitter-inspired William Shatner sitcom $#*! My Dad Says instead of $#!+ My Dad Says, because the network thinks the second one looks too much like the actual word the symbols are replacing. Wouldn’t that be a good thing, though? Anyhoo, the symbols, when spoken about, will translate to the word “Bleep.” This promises to be the most ridiculous pop culture name since Prince wanted to be known as that funky symbol.

- Good news: Psych’s fifth season premiere has been moved up ever so slightly, from July 21 to July 14.

- Congrats to Tina Fey, the very deserving winner of this year’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. By the way, I came across a really cool Tina Fey fan Website today: TinaFeyFan.com. Definitely worth checking out for all things Tina.

- It’s not a surprise, but still pretty cool: Turns out the ratings for the Betty White-hosted Saturday Night Live episode were even higher when DVR numbers were added in. Yes, Everybody Loves Betty.

- Another TV classic enjoying a ratings boost: Sesame Street.

- One of my newest reality TV show crushes is Food Network’s Chopped, where chefs are given mystery baskets of ingredients and challenged to make appetizers, entrees and desserts from them. It’s a fast-paced, tension-filled competition, and it’s truly amazing what some of the talented culinary whizzes come up with … making a dessert out of gummi bears, a main entree out of cola and a string cheese app? Really fun stuff. And if you have aspirations of being on the show, or know someone who could cook up something special, Chopped producers are looking for new contestants. Check out the series’ casting Website for more deets.

- Leave it to Family Guy to create a clever Emmy pitch that will, no doubt, be offensive to some of the more uptight Hollywood-ites: It’s Peter Griffin’s take on Precious.

- Perez Hilton has his own record label, so why shouldn’t Ellen DeGeneres. I guess. Anyhoo, she does/will, and her first signee to the label will be Greyson Chance, that kid whose Lady Gaga Paparazzi cover you’ve no doubt seen on YouTube.

- Speaking of Gaga, this promises to be one of the funniest/most awkward/just plain weird interviews ever: Loopy coot Larry King says, via Twitter, that he’ll be hosting the pop star on his CNN talk show next week.

- And here’s a fun TV tie-in: To celebrate its 20th anniversary, E! has teamed up with Cold Stone Creamery to create E! Entertain-mint, mint ice cream with brownies and fudge.

- Some media types hate them, but I kind of love the annual upfront week, when the networks unveil their schedules for the fall TV season. Here’s my take on yesterday’s NBC presentation, and brief previews of some of the network’s new shows. My fave of all the previews we saw of NBC’s new series: The Event, a 24-ish thriller starring Blair Underwood as the President of the United States and Jason Ritter as a regular dude who gets caught up in a major conspiracy plot. The worst: The Cape, a midseason cop/superhero/circus-themed drama. Yes, that’s right … circus. Check out clips of The Cape here and The Event here.

- As for the fall plans of Fox, which also presented its upfront show on Monday, the American Idol results show will shrink to 30 minutes (yay!), finding Simon Cowell’s replacement is one of the network’s biggest priorities of the summer and Keri Russell, Will Arnett and The Shield creator Shawn Ryan are returning to the tube at Fox next season. (Check out clips of new Fox shows here).

- Happy 40th birthday today to Tina Fey, one of the funniest writers and performers ever. This week’s 30 Rock season finale (Thursday, 9:30PM ET) finds Fey’s Liz Lemon getting flirty with guest star Matt Damon, but Fey promises that Liz and boss/pal Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) will never hook up on the show, even in the series finale.

- Radar Online has a sneak peek of Bret Michaels‘ first post-brain hemorrhage interview, which airs on Oprah’s show on Wednesday. VH1 will also air a sneak peek at Michael’s new reality series, Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It, on May 31. The new show drops the Rock of Love schtick and shows the Poison rocker at home with his daughters. And Michaels will also be competing for the Celebrity Apprentice title in Sunday’s season finale on NBC (9PM ET).

- The other big TV happening this weekend, of course, is the Lost series finale. But the penultimate episode airs tonight (9PM, ABC), and buzz is that there is going to be another pretty big death. After Sun and Jin, I’m pretty much okay with anyone being killed off, except Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway). Hurley and Sawyer, the show’s greatest characters, must survive the island adventure. Anyhoo, take a look at one critic/Lost fan’s prediction for tonight’s installment.

- Awesome news for Curb Your Enthusiasm fans: Much of the upcoming eighth season will film in New York City. We know the genius Larry David helped create with the New York-set Seinfeld, so imagine what predicaments Larry will get himself into in the Big Apple.

- New Weeds faces for season six: Linda Hamilton, who plays a weed grower who meets up with Nancy in Seattle, and Peter Stormare, who plays Andy’s (the Emmy-worthy Justin Kirk) new boss. The new season finds Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and her fam on the lam to Seattle after Shane (Alexander Gould) took out Pilar in the season five finale. Season six, by the way, debuts on Aug. 16 on Showtime.

- Reeg! TV legend Regis Philbin will host the 37th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on CBS on June 27. The big guy’s own Live With Regis and Kelly is nominated for Outstanding Talk Show. PS – Send good vibes Reeg’s way today, as he undergoes surgery to have a clot removed in his leg, something he has wrung for a lot of comedy in the last week.

- Glee: Champion of high school misfits or exploiter of stereotypes? Two Daily Beast writers duke it out, and while they both make compelling arguments, I’m gonna go with champion of misfits, though, I think to a large audience, the show’s just a fun, feel-good hour of TV every week.

- Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) in that exoskeleton suit, finally showing Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) to be the wuss we know him to be, in last night’s penultimate 24? Classic. And with the countdown on to the — sniff, sniff — series finale on May 24 (8PM ET), I’m doing a series of 24-themed features at TV Squad this week, beginning with the Top 5 24 heroes of all time. Do you agree with the list?

- Charlie Sheen has re-upped for Two and a Half Men. Yay? As if, with his life in yet another state of disaster, he had so many other options.

- And speaking of 2.5 Men, that show’s kid star, Angus T. Jones, is the highest-paid kid in primetime, earning $250,000 and episode. Crazy. And even crazier that he makes that much more dough than Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez (Manny) and the kids on The Middle – Charlie McDermott (Axl), Eden Sher (Sue) and Atticus Shaffer (Brick) – who are easily the most talented, and least annoying, under-18 stars on TV.

- The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and the nominees for Outstanding Drama Series: All My Children, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless.

- PBS will air a four-hour sequel to documentarian Ken Burns‘ classic Baseball series. The Tenth Inning, which will cover the last decade and a half of action in Major League Baseball, will premiere on Sept. 28 and 29.

- Still trying to wrap my head around last night’s Lost and all the questions it answered/new ones it raised. The finale, of course, is just a little more than a week away, and if that’s already making you nostalgic about the show, check out the upcoming Lost props auction, where goodies like Dharma food, Charlie’s Drive Shaft ring, Kate’s toy airplane, Hurley’s passport and winning lottery ticket, and, what I think is the coolest of all, Jin’s wedding ring, which was a pivotal part of last week’s heartbreaking episode.

- About NBC’s fall 2010 schedule: It’s looking good for Chuck, not so good for Heroes, and kinda iffy for the remake of The Rockford Files that TVScreener.com readers really wanted Joe Flanigan to be a part of.

- Comedy Central has pulled the plug on The Sarah Silverman Program.

- Lifetime is spinning off Army Wives. The new show will revolve around Brigid Brannagh’s Pamela, as she divorced hubby Chase and rejoins the police force in Charleston, South Carolina.

- USA has an awesome line-up of returns planned for the summer: Psych’s fifth season kicks off on July 21 (10PM ET) and will include guest stars like Jean Smart and John Michael Higgins; 24’s Mary Lynn Rajskub is guest-starring on the June 10 episode of Royal Pains (which returns on June 3 for its second season, which will also include Henry “The Fonz” Winkler); and Burt Reynolds will play a, ahem, veteran, spy guy on an episode of Burn Notice, which premieres its fourth season on June 3.

- MTV has picked up the pilot for a remake of the British teen drama Skins.

- Now that Betty White has wowed everyone on Saturday Night Live, is she headed to WWE’s Raw? Or Dancing with the Stars?! Or the Oscars?

- Speaking of SNL, Alec Baldwin hosts the season finale this week, but fans have already started campaigns to lobby for hosts for next season (the show’s 36th!), including Carol Burnett, Glee star Jane Lynch and White’s fellow Golden Girl Rue McClanahan. Can’t go wrong with any of them, no?

- And one more SNL bit: The Daily Beast has a great interview with producer Lorne Michaels, who dishes about the Betty White episode, the upcoming MacGruber movie and the big Conan/Leno/NBC mess.

- With American Idol ratings steadily heading downward and Simon Cowell’s American version of X Factor coming soon (not to mention America’s Got Talent), it would seem that another singing competition series is the last thing TV land needs. Yet uber-producer Mark Burnett is shopping one, called One in a Million.

- And the next big screen-to-boob tube makeover: A TV series version of the Tom Cruise flick The Firm.
