Potts Picks: Today’s Best TV

(ALL TIMES ET)

9PM | NBC – SERIES PREMIERE
The Voice Carson Daly hosts and Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are the mentors/coaches/judges in this new reality singing competition in which wannabe pros try to win a recording contract. The twist, in tonight’s part one of the auditions: The judges can’t see the singers perform – they can only listen to them – until they’ve decided whether or not they’re talented enough to continue on in the competition. I know, I know, we didn’t really need an American Idol knock-off, especially with Simon Cowell‘s X Factor coming in the fall and another season of America’s Got Talent on tap for summer, but I have to admit, with AI turning out to be a disappointment this season, and that intriguing twist of the blind auditions, The Voice is definitely worth checking out.

Dancing With the … Hulk?

This could be the thing that finally makes a regular Dancing With the Stars viewer out of me: Life & Style mag reports that The Incredible Hulk TV star Lou Ferrigno may be among the celeb toe tappers on the next season of DWtS.

Ferrigno, who also had a very funny role as Carrie and Doug’s next-door-neighbor Lou Ferrigno on The King of Queens, tells the magazine, “I had a good meeting with the producers for Dancing With the Stars, it was really positive, and they loved the idea of having me on the show … I’ve never done that type of dancing before, so I know that I’ll have to train hard. I’m a glutton for punishment, so I’ll give it my best shot.”

Ferrigno hasn’t signed a contract yet, but sounds pretty confident that he will be a part of the show’s ninth season, which premieres on ABC on Sept. 21.

Among the other celebs rumored for season nine: Olympic wrestler Kurt Angle, designer Vera Wang, Donny Osmond, Entourage‘s Debi Mazar and Mr. Tori Spelling, a.k.a. Dean McDermott.

TV List o’ the Day: The Best TV Dances Ever!

I haven’t caught the Dancing With the Stars or So You Think You Can Dance bugs, but I love the idea of ABC’s Let’s Dance, the upcoming reality series in which celebs will be asked to re-create famous dance routines, like Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze‘s Dirty Dancing number or Britney Spears‘ dance from the “Oops, I Did It Again” video (which Jack and Grace also memorably performed on an episode of Will & Grace).

What other famous dances might the celebs on Let’s Dance shake their groove thangs to? How ’bout these memorable TV toe tappers …

Turk’s re-enactment of the Bel Biv DeVoe “Poison” video on Scrubs – As Janitor says, “He’s so damn talented.”

The Batusi – He may have been the Caped Crusader, but he’s one big spazzoid on the dance floor.

The Charlie Brown Christmas Pageant Dance – Give yourself extra points if you’ve seen the “Hey Ya” and Psych versions.

Talkin’ With … ‘Wilfred’ Star Jason Gann About Season 2

Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and Louis C.K. are getting most of the attention, but I’m most excited that one of the best new shows of last TV season — Wilfred — returns for its second season on FX tonight (10PM ET). Season one of the series ended with a cliffhanger — had Ryan (Elijah Wood) […]
