I still love The Real World and Teen Mom and several other MTV offerings, but let’s be honest: If it’s music on television you’re looking for, MTV hasn’t been that place for a long time.
Fortunately, Fuse has stepped in to fulfill that role, as tonight’s latest live concert offering illustrates. Fuse Presents: Maroon 5 Live From the Beacon Theater (9PM ET) features the Adam Levine-led Los Angeles band performing their greatest hits, as well as selections from their upcoming Hands All Over CD (which hits stores on Sept. 21), from, IMHO, one of the best concert venues in the country. No crowds to fight, no pricey tickets to buy, no obnoxious drunk people in the seats in front of you standing up and woohoo-ing the whole time in an effort to get the lead singer to notice them (my experience at a John Mayer concert a couple of summers ago) … just a great live show, to be enjoyed from the comfort of your own living room.
Unfortunately, music fans on the Dish Network know that Fuse has been MIA from their channel lineup since July 1, which a quick trip to www.iwantfusetv.com could help rectify.
Meanwhile, among the highlights from Fuse’s other summer offerings:
Kings of Leon: Live From Bonnaroo 2010
(Premieres August 26th, 7PM ET)
Unlike last weekend’s unfortunate incident with the pigeon poop, KoL actually got to play at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee, and this Fuse event features an hour of the band playing their greatest tunes from the June 2010 show.
Artist Takeover Mondays
(Mondays, beginning at 11AM ET)
Features a different artist every Monday, and includes music videos, interviews and specials
The lineup for the rest of the summer:
Britney Spears – August 2
Lil Wayne – August 9
T.I. – August 16
Lady Gaga – August 23
Michael Jackson – August 30
Fuse Warped Wednesday
(Wednesdays, 11AM-4PM ET, through August 11)
The latest music, news and videos from the 2010 Vans Warped Tour and its artists.
Hip Hop Invasion
(Wednesdays, 7PM ET)
Documentaries, biographies and specials on hip hop artists, plus episodes of Hip Hop Shop (11PM), the weekly series that covers all things hip hop and R&B, with news, interviews and celeb guests, hosted by writer/author/pop culture Twitterer Touré.
Fuse Top 20 Countdown
(Fridays, 5PM ET)
A two-hour countdown of the week’s best videos, plus music news and musician interviews. Like the VH1 Top 20 countdown, it’s a great way to find new music and artists to add to your playlists.
Lollapalooza 2010
(Premieres August 13, 8PM ET)
This year’s Chicago event features Lady Gaga, Green Day and Soundgarden, and this Fuse special will replay the highlights of the concert, along with interviews and behind-the-scenes scoop on the why Lollapalooza continues to be such a huge annual event.
Fuse Pop Goddess Weekend
(August 21 at 11AM through August 23)
It’s a three-day fest of music from pop’s top divas, including interviews, biographies and videos on Beyonce Knowles, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.
Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and Louis C.K. are getting most of the attention, but I’m most excited that one of the best new shows of last TV season — Wilfred — returns for its second season on FX tonight (10PM ET). Season one of the series ended with a cliffhanger — had Ryan (Elijah Wood) […]
