Potts Picks: Today’s Best TV – July 6, 2011

(ALL TIMES ET)

10PM | FOOD NETWORK – 2ND SEASON PREMIERE
Restaurant: Impossible
– Chef Robert Irvine is back, continuing his mission to make over restaurants that are sorely in need of makeovers, in a less pompous-ass version of Gordo Ramsey‘s Kitchen Nightmares. First up in the new season, Robert heads to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to try to help an outdated Wild West-themed eatery.

9PM | BRAVO – 5TH SEASON PREMIERE
Flipping Out
Jeff Lewis is back and crabbier than ever, despite, or maybe partly because of, the fact that his new head of business affairs is also his boyfriend, Gage.

9PM | HISTORY
The Lost Kennedy Home Movies
– Two hours of Kennedy home videos include JFK‘s final weekend with children JFK Jr. and Caroline, two weeks before his assassination.

9PM | USA
Royal Pains
– “But There’s a Catch” is the title of this episode, in which Hank has to treat his old rival when he’s injured during a charity football game (in which Hank is also playing), while Divya has to treat a patient while dealing with her own issues about being disowned by her ‘rents.

10 and 10:30PM | SYFY – 1ST SEASON FINALE
Hollywood Treasure
– Oscar-nominated filmmaker Frank Darabont pops in to auction off some of his personal movie collectibles, in an effort to raise money for charity. Among his goodies: the electric chair from The Green Mile, as well as items from The Walking Dead and The Shawshank Redemption, one of the greatest movies of all time.

10PM | TNT – 2ND SEASON FINALE
Men of a Certain Age
– Joe (Ray Romano) finally gets his big shot at his dream career when he tries out at a senior golf tour pre-qualifier event.

10PM | MTV
Real World/Road Rules: The Challenge: Rivals
– The dudes plot to get rid of CT, which means getting rid of the only reason to still watch this show.

10PM | TLC
Toddlers & Tiaras
– Tonight’s Southern kiddie beauty pageant features Brock, a 7-year-old boy who describes himself as a diva, dreams of being on Broadway and has dressed like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz for Halloween for the last few years. He and his mama also lament the fact that there are too few pageants that include male contestants, but you’ll want to hug him because he’s so sweet and earnest, and, sadly, because you know life is probably going to be a little rough for Brock for awhile.

Worth flipping to during commercials:
– The top 14 perform on So You Think You Can Dance (8PM, Fox);
Jason Alexander guest stars as a big client who could get the fellas in big trouble on Franklin & Bash (9PM, TNT);
– A group of New Year’s Eve skiers accidentally launch an avalanche on the fifth season premiere of I Shouldn’t Be Alive (9PM, Animal Planet);
– On The Devil You Know (10PM, ID), it’s the story of a woman who finds out her ex-hubby was illegally harvesting body parts from cadavers … so, good move by her with that divorce;
– Two classic Happy Days episodes (10 and 10:30PM, The Hub) feature The Fonz’s proposal to Pinky Tuscadero;
– On Rocco’s Dinner Party (10PM, Bravo), guests include comedian Jeffrey Ross and actor Chazz Palminteri;
– On Jon Benjamin Has a Van (10:30PM, Comedy Central), Jon and the van have a run-in with another driver.

And the late-night line-up:
Conan (11PM, TBS): Jane Lynch (REPEAT);
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (11PM, Comedy Central): Louis C.K. (REPEAT);
The Colbert Report (11:30PM, Comedy Central): Grover Norquist (REPEAT);
The Late Show with David Letterman (11:35PM, CBS): Ryan Reynolds (REPEAT);
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (11:35PM, NBC): Billy Ray Cyrus;
