Neil Patrick Harris IS Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman! (& Other Holiday Spoofs)

Shout out to The Hollywood Reporter for pointing us to this CBS promo (how very edgy for the network!) for How I Met Your Mother and the Frosty the Snowman holiday specials. The clip is a combo of HIMYM‘s Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), putting his bro code ways (and dialogue) into the Frosty cartoon:

The clip reminds me of another great holiday ‘toon spoof: The Scrubs take on A Charlie Brown Christmas. Of all the Charlie Brown types in primetime, J.D. (Zach Braff) is the Charlie Browniest, and Dr. Cox’s (John C. McGinley) spin on Linus’ meaning of Christmas speech/rant is perfection:

Any other holiday cartoon spoofs floating around the Web?

All the tube news that’s fit to surf …

– Among the TV shows that will host panels at the San Diego Comic-Con in July: Chuck, Dexter, Dollhouse, Lost, MythBusters, Psych, True Blood, Supernatural and Smallville.

– There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but there are free TV comedy episodes to watch while you’re noshing. Thanks to Sitcoms Online.com for the heads up about iTunes’ summer sale, which includes free episodes of Arrested Development, Reno 911! and The State, 99-cent eps of The Office, 30 Rock and The Larry Sanders Show, and, best of all, the entire five-episode first season of The State for $3.96.

– Fox has announced its fall 2009 premiere dates, kicking off its season on Sept. 16 with Glee and (another) new season of So You Think You Can Dance.

– Speaking of SYTYCD, why would Katie Holmes be performing on the show? Right? Yet, the rumor persists that she’ll be shaking her moneymaker on a July episode.

American Idol season five vet, and one of the show’s most successful artists, Chris Daughtry, talks about his second album, which will be released on July 14.

America’s Got Talent kicks off next week on NBC (June 23, (9PM ET), but will the show find its own Susan Boyle? Even though the Internet sensation was the runner-up on the latest season of Britain’s Got Talent, she’s reportedly earning more than $160,000 for a 12-minute performance at corporate events. In comparison, former President Bill Clinton gets between $140,000-150,000.

NPHNeil Patrick Harris, of course – is going to be a villain called The Music Meister in a fall episode of Cartoon Network’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Wouldn’t he be great in the next big-screen Batman, too …

Gossip Girl is the big TV nominee at this year’s Teen Choice Awards.

Heidi Pratt says Al Roker made her cry. So does dry shampoo … in other words, what doesn’t? Did being chastised by Whoopi Goldberg also make her shed tears?

Dave Letterman apologizes, again, for the Palin jokes on tonight’s Late Show.

Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy will guest star in the upcoming “Bollywood Homicide” episode of Psych, which premieres (not soon enough) its fourth season on Aug. 7.

– Memorial Day weekend means TV marathons, and TVGuide.com has a round-up of ’em.

Nurse Jackie, the quirky new nurse dramedy starring Edie “Carmela Soprano” Falco, debuts June 8 on Showtime, but you can watch the first episode now, free, at Sho.com. The password: “shifthappens.”

– Now that the networks have announced their schedules for next season, they have to deal with the dismal stats of the just-concluded 2008/09 season: ratings were down 16 percent.

Don’t read this EW.com story unless you want to know the major twist that will kick off The CW’s remake of Melrose Place in the fall.

– Tonight’s season finales: Starz’ terrific comedies Party Down (10:30PM ET) and Head Case (10PT), which features a funny cameo by Jerry Seinfeld.

– What was missing from the American Idol finale (besides an Adam Lambert win, of course)? A goofy Will Ferrell song that was cut.

Fringe‘s Kirk Acevedo took to his Facebook page earlier this week to say he’d been fired from the show. Not so, says a show producer.

– First Guiding Light is cancelled, and now All My Children killed Stuart Chandler. What is going on in daytime TV?!

– Just when you think you can’t possibly love Neil Patrick Harris more, you find out he has pop-up books in his guest room, Kiehl’s products in the shower and a selection of magazines in his bathroom. NPH!

– And in more things that make perfect sense to me, Project Runway star (and he is the real star of the show) Tim Gunn will become a Marvel Comics superhero.

Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the Tonys. Might have to actually watch them this year.

– I still think giving Jay Leno a nightly 10PM timeslot is one of the worst decisions in the history of TV, but it is nice that he’s hosting new Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien on his own final Tonight Show episode.

Janeane Garofalo won’t return to 24 next season. Oh no. That’s … so sad?

– In addition to Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter‘s July series Michael & Michael Have Issues, Comedy Central’s line-up of upcoming series includes animated shows with Jamie Foxx and Judah Friedlander, a sketch comedy series with Andy Dick and a comedy that will be penned by Ice Cube and DJ Pooh, the first time the duo has co-written a script since Friday.

– Let the spoilers begin to trickle out: Even though the Nip/Tuck series finale won’t air until sometime in 2010, it will be filmed next month in Los Angeles.

– The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced, and Cash Cab, one of the coolest shows on the tube, and host Ben Bailey received nods.

Marie Osmond will definitely be back on the tube next fall, hosting her own talk show. Hopefully not wearing that creepy babydoll costume she sported on Dancing With the Stars.

Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari has apparently given up on a real acting career: she’s headed to The Hills to replace Lauren Conrad, her former love rival on Laguna.

– And Kate Gosselin‘s brother has joined the crowd of people calling the Jon & Kate Plus 8 couple a sham. With family like this, who needs tabloid reporters?

Talkin’ With … ‘Wilfred’ Star Jason Gann About Season 2

Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and Louis C.K. are getting most of the attention, but I’m most excited that one of the best new shows of last TV season — Wilfred — returns for its second season on FX tonight (10PM ET). Season one of the series ended with a cliffhanger — had Ryan (Elijah Wood) […]
