– First, Showtime had The L Word, now it’ll have The C Word, a new dramedy starring Laura Linney as a woman diagnosed with cancer.
– TNT has renewed the Timothy Hutton drama Leverage for a third season that will air next summer.
– TV audiences are getting older: The median age of viewers for the big three networks is now 50.
– Cable networks A&E and Lifetime are now sister channels.
– Joss Whedon and Fox aren’t wasting any opportunity to draw new eyeballs to Dollhouse, which got a surprise season two pick-up after its ratings-challenged first season. The show has signed a slew of sci-fi faves for new roles and guest gigs, including Sarah Connor Chronicles‘ Summer Glau, Battlestar Galactica‘s Jamie Bamber and Michael Hogan and Angel‘s Alexis Denisof, as well as Dexter‘s Keith Carradine.
– Chris Brown‘s first interview since being sentenced in the Rihanna abuse case will air on Larry King Live on Sept. 2.
– Campbell Scott is joining the cast of Damages for season three. After several memorable big-screen performances (including one of my all-time faves, Singles), the short-lived Six Degrees and a good guest gig on Royal Pains, he’s one of those actors who needs his own series …
– Boston Legal Emmy winner Christian Clemenson has joined the cast of CSI: Miami, where he’ll play a medical examiner.
