– It’s all about The Beatles today – that Beatles: Rock Band game for Xbox 360 is simply awesome! (and, warning, quite addictive) – but do you know which TV network first introduced The Beatles to America? Probably not the one you’re thinking, as it turns out.
– Janet Jackson will open MTV’s Video Music Awards show on Sunday with a tribute to Michael Jackson.

– The O.C. dad Peter Gallagher, the man with the best eyebrows ever, will be back on the tube in the upcoming USA series Covert Affairs. He’ll play a CIA director who “loves a good fight, great scotch and a filthy joke,” opposite Piper Perabo‘s CIA trainee.
– Guest-star-a-go-go: Bush singer (and Mr. Gwen Stefani) Gavin Rossdale will play a rocker who might be a killer on Criminal Minds, and Brat Pack-er Judd Nelson will play a doctor on Psych.
– Oprah says her interview with Whitney Houston, which airs on Sept. 14 and 15, is her best interview ever.
– ABC thinks it has the solution to viewers fast-forwarding through commercials during Desperate Housewives broadcasts: A mini-soap opera created by DH‘s Marc Cherry.
– Christiane Amanpour is getting her own talk show on CNN.
– Among the contestants on the next season of The Amazing Race (which premieres on CBS on Sept. 27): Two Harlem Globetrotters.
