Channel Surfing Weekend – October 23-25, 2009

All the tube news that’s fit to surf …

– It continues to be a bad year for celebs: R.I.P. comedian and TV legend Soupy Sales, who died Thursday night in New York.

George Stephanopoulos is reportedly up for Diane Sawyer‘s Good Morning America gig.

– If you watch only one thing this weekend, it should be this: Neil Patrick Harris as a singing, dancing villain – Music Meister – in a musical episode of the Cartoon Network’s Batman: The Bold and the Brave.

Don Cheadle is producing a comedy for NBC – too much to hope that he might star in it, too?

– The fabulous Glee scene stealer, Jane Lynch, will return to Starz’ Party Down next season, as will Kristen Bell.

– The new season of The Hills isn’t doing so well, ratings-wise, without Lauren Conrad.

– ABC is planning its own weight-loss series, a la The Biggest Loser, though ABC’s show won’t be a competition series.

– The new Melrose Place has been, so far, a lame effort but it’s promising that producers are getting rid of their lamest cast member, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

Legos, the series? Yup.

– And, oh, Stephanie Judith Tanner (Jodie Sweetin)! What a bad example you were setting for Uncle Jesse, Joey and your little sister, Michelle, on Full House.
