– Usually, I could not care less about Platinum Hit (8PM, Bravo), but Colbie Caillat, she of the soothing voice and infectious summery tunes, is the guest judge;
– On Whale Wars (9PM, Animal Planet), the Steve Irwin-ers find out the location of the Nisshin Maru;
– On American Restoration (10PM, History), tonight’s goodies include a 1940s U.S. mailbox and a ’67 Harley;
– The always awesome John Turturro is the interview guest on Real Time with Bill Maher (10PM, HBO);

Torchwood: Miracle Day
– Even if you weren’t a viewer of the original Torchwood, this U.S. remake, which finds Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman) and company investigating why no one on Earth is dying anymore, will hook you. And Bill Pullman, as convicted rapist/murderer Oswald Danes, who survives an execution and is then set free? Nearly unrecognizable physically, and creepily good as a guy who’s going to prove to be, um, complicated.

8PM | NBC
Friday Night Lights
– I can barely even think or write about this penultimate episode of FNL without tearing up, so be warned that Eric and Tami’s dilemma, Riggins’ reunion with a fellow Panther alum and Grandma Saracen – especially Grandma Saracen – are gonna have you wiping the salty discharge from your eyes, too.

9PM | TRAVEL CHANNEL
Paranormal Challenge
– Host Zak Bagans says the Ohio State Reformatory is one of the most haunted places he’s ever visited. It’s also the prison used in The Shawshank Redemption.

10PM | NAT GEO WILD – SERIES PREMIERE
Killer Shots
– The new series follows wildlife photog Andy Casagrande (how awesome is that name?) as he goes to some dangerous lengths to get the perfect shot. In the opener, he leaves a diving cage to get an up close shark photo.

Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids
Say Yes to the Dress: It’s not just for bridezillas anymore.

11PM | IFC
Young, Broke & Beautiful
Broke-Ass Stuart visits Boston, where he helps judge a burlesque contest, parties at a steampunk mansion and hangs with some nerdy bikers.

Worth flipping to during commercials:
– The Bob Barker is on the lookout for two missing boats on Whale Wars (9PM, Animal Planet);
– On Outrageous Food (10PM, Food Network), Tom helps make an 800-pound burger at an Oklahoma festival;

– The charming Stuart Schuffman, he of the famous Broke-Ass Stuart blog and books, hosts this fun new travel series, in which he scopes out the cool, unusual and inexpensive in various cities. First up: Stuart’s hometown of San Diego, where he visits an outdoor mural spot, enjoys a junkyard circus, wipes out at a local skate park and visits Two Roses, a combo tattoo/coffee/barber shop.

11PM | VH1
Unplugged
Mumford and Sons perform an acoustic set, including, of course, “The Cave.”

8 and 9PM | NGC
Flea Man
– Flea Man helps a toy collector sell some of his goodies to help pay for a basement renovation, and then helps an aspiring country music star sell his collectibles so he can pay to record his first CD.

Friday Night Lights
– Riggins’ family and friends speak to the parole board on his behalf and Eric is recruited by a major college football program.
