‘Entourage’: Vinnie Chase Is the Comeback Kid

HBO’s dishing up some details about the sixth season of Entourage, which premieres on July 12 (10:30PM ET), and it looks like Vinnie Chase (Adrian Grenier) is making a comeback to the A-list.

Season five saw Vince and the fellas – Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) – suffer the fallout of Vinnie’s critically-panned Medellin collaboration with Billy Walsh (Rhys Coiro) and his ill-fated Smoke Jumpers role as Vinnie’s stock (and his income) in Hollywood plummeted. Only some hustling on E’s part put Vince on the comeback trail, and when the season ended, he had landed a role in Martin Scorsese‘s “re-imagining” of The Great Gatsby.

Season six, then, kicks off with Gatsby set to premiere, Vince making an appearance on The Tonight Show (the old, Jay Leno version), Eric thinking about moving into a house of his own, Lloyd (Rex Lee) demanding a promotion from Ari (Jeremy Piven) and Vince actually planning to finally get a driver’s license. Curious to see what that will mean for permanent driver Turtle …

Speaking of, the new season will also find Turtle still dating Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler (who’s dating Ferrara in real life), while Ari tries to make Mrs. Ari (Perrey Reeves) befriend the wife (Jami Gertz) of his new partner, Andrew (Gary Cole), and Drama, who became the proud owner of Johnny Drama’s, a bar in Queens, at the end of season five, will be sought after by a producer (Prison Break‘s William Fichtner) who wants to remake a ’90s teen TV series for Drama to star in. Could it be Beverly Hills 90210-ish? As we know from Drama’s resume, he once guest starred on 90210 as Eddie, a guy who stalked Donna (Tori Spelling).

Meanwhile, among the celebs making cameos this season: Tom Brady, Ed Burns, Sigler, Zac Efron, 50 Cent, Leno, Steve Nash, Lil’ Wayne, LeBron James, David Schwimmer, Aaron Sorkin and Entourage producer Mark Wahlberg, while Beverly D’Angelo is back as Ari’s partner Babs, Debi Mazar returns as Vince’s publicist Shauna, Bow Wow continues as Eric’s writer client Charlie and Emmanuelle Chriqui is Eric’s returning love interest Sloan.

All the tube news that’s fit to surf …

Weeds premieres its fifth season tonight (10PM ET, Showtime). Check out my interview with Emmy nominee Elizabeth Perkins (also a star of one of my all-time fave movies, About Last Night) at AOL TV.

– Here’s hoping Jimmy Fallon really can pull off a Saved by the Bell reunion tonight. And PS – So happy Zach Morris clipped the ‘do.

– Is Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) alive on Lost? Okay, so then why’s he playing foosball in that new ABC promo? EW.com’s Michael Ausiello has the surprising answer. PS – IGN TV thinks the secret show is Flash Forward.

– More from Ausiello: There may be a Cagney & Lacey reunion on Burn Notice next year.

– Think you’ve got advertising skills? Put ’em to use pimping – ha – HBO’s new series Hung, about a middle-aged guy (Thomas Jane) who becomes a gigolo, and you might win $10,000.

– Cougars are all the rage on network TV, especially now that Erica Kane‘s become one.

Go and Prison Break star William Fichtner will guest star on the upcoming sixth season of Entourage, which premieres on HBO on July 12.

Kathy Bates, Tim Curry and Colm Meaney will star in Sci Fi’s Alice in Wonderland miniseries.

– Uncle Jesse – the Full House one, not the Dukes of Hazzard one – is itching to make a big-screen version of his cheesy, but endearing sitcom, sans Olsen twins and with, oddly, James Franco taking over his role.

Once and Again and My So-Called Life producer Marshall Herskovitz has a plan to radically change up the way TV pilots are sold. He ain’t tellin’ what it is, though.

Talkin’ With … ‘Wilfred’ Star Jason Gann About Season 2

Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and Louis C.K. are getting most of the attention, but I’m most excited that one of the best new shows of last TV season — Wilfred — returns for its second season on FX tonight (10PM ET). Season one of the series ended with a cliffhanger — had Ryan (Elijah Wood) […]
